| Too bad there is no more track here. When the Montreal & Western Railway built the line between Ste.Adele and Ste.Agathe in 1892, they had to dig the precambrian rock near Mont Sauvage (French for Wild Mountain) by hand, with the help of only a few sticks of dynamite. It was one of Canadian Pacifics most scenic lines in Quebec, until it was abandoned for passenger service by VIA Rail in 1981. The right of way has now been converted to a bicycle and ski trail. |
