Penn Central 76-seat coach 1519 was built by the Budd Co. in April 1949 as Pennsylvania Railroad sleeper HAMILTON INN. It was one of 50 Plan 9513 21-roomette cars in Budd Lot 9667, and the Pennsy remodeled all of these into coaches 1500-1549 in 1963. They retained their same numbers on the Penn Central, although this car still retains its Pennsy-style number at one end and a PRR Keystone emblem next to its vestibule. The 1519 became Southeast Michigan Transportation Authority (SEMTA) 101 later in 1976. (approximate month) |
