Amtrak 44-seat coach 4573 was originally Union Pacific 5533. It was one of 15 cars built by the St. Louis Car Co. between October 1964 and March 1965 as UP 5528-5542, and all of these became Amtrak 4578-4582 in 1971. These were the last coaches built for the UP, and were among the very last long-distance cars built before the creation of Amtrak. Only KCS 270-270 came later, in June and July 1965. The 4573 was converted into Heritage Fleet coach 4615, and was eventually sold to Ringling Brothers where it became RBBX 43004. (approximate month) |
