Does anyone know what the protrusions are on each end? You can see one between the large logo and the ladder, and the other one is above and to the left of the "BAR" reporting marks. They look like they have some sort of pull cord coming out of the bottom of them, maybe to open/close something? Kind of remind me of the pull chain on old light fixtures!

Cool Pain Scheme! Those protrusions are vents. BIG rolls of newsprint went in somewhat damp and needed to dry out (if the humidity was high or another type of load was going in the vents could be closed with the 'pull cords'). Some more modernd XMs have simular vents (thou smaller)
