On October 13, 2011, a pair of Kansas City Southern GP22ECO locomotives (2810 and 2824, both originally Western Pacific GP40s) have just dropped off their train at Metro Junction, just north of Krum, Texas. Before long, the train will depart northbound with BNSF Railway power. This operation, which occurs nearly ever day, is called the "pig swap" bcause the trains are eoaded with containers and trailers (and trailers on flat cars used to be known as "piggyback" service). |
