Mikey Puttock General Hi All, I'm surprised that none of the Aussies have jumped on answering your question about these flat cars. They were built for Qube, then known as Silverton Railway as the side from Independent Rail in New South Wales, Australia. I'm not sure where they were built but I do know the SQDY wagon code. 7/12/2022 9:28:14 AM
Mikey Puttock General I forgot to add in my previous post, to understand how our freight wagon numbering and codes work, SQDY, the first letter is the owner in this instance Silverton. The second letter Q denotes it's a container wagon. The third letter D is a sub class of the wagon, I'm not sure how many SQ-Y wagons Qube runs? The forth letter Y Roller Bearing Bogies (1-piece) – Max Speed 115 km/h the number is just one of how many were ordered and the check letter is a pre 1980 Railways of Australia code. There is a calculator floating around the interwebs that you can take a post 1980 4 letter wagon code, add numbers and it will add a check letter at the end. For example, I'll use a made up Rio Grande number to get a check letter DRGW 48900 X is what the wagon code calculator gave me. 7/12/2022 10:08:13 AM
