UTAX 9
The Salt Lake City area has experienced a commuter rail renaissance lately, with three TRAX light rail lines in operation and Front Runner heavy rail commuter trains – all operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). On a stormy August 10, 2012, afternoon, Front Runner train #4 passes under the six-track signal bridge and across the grade crossing at W 400 N (SLC is on the only city I know of that names their streets in such a manner) as it approaches Union Pacifics North Yard. UTAX MP36PH-3C 9, built by Motive Power Industries (Boise, ID) leads coach 201 and cab cars 113 and 120 as the train makes its way from downtown Salt Lake northward to Ogden.
