BNSF is again testing power consists on the La Junta sub west of Newton, KS. A few years ago, BNSF conducted fuel consumption tests with loads of concrete ties on the La Junta Sub. Now they are testing tractive effort on locomotives. On September 4th, BNSF sent a train out of Topeka with BNSF 5375 & 5759 for power pulling test cars 82 & 83 along with 10 empty coal hoppers. The train ran from Topeka to Hutchinson and the U-TOPHUT5-04. When it got to Hutchinson, it was scheduled to be the W-HUTHUT1-06 on the 6th and for several days after that. It is making test runs between Newton & Hutchinson with those empty coal hoppers and a few other cars along with the test cars. Info from Sean Graham-White. |
