PONCA CITY OK PONCA CITY OK August 1981 -- ATSF GP20u 3033 handles switching duties in this north-central city. A large customer is the ConocoPhillips oil refinery but this photo highlights the grain business. The Robin Hood Flour site was closed in 1959. EMD built the 3033 (s/n 26839) in September 1961 as ATSF 1133 in blue with yellow ends. It became ATSF 3133 in the 1969-70 general renumbering and was repainted into yellow warbonnet after mid-June 1972. The San Bernardino shops rebuilt it as a GP20u and renumbered 3033 January 1977. After creation of BNSF it was patched and renumbered BNSF 2023. It was acquired by Filmore Western as FWRY 3033 and acquired by Nebraska Northeastern Railway as NENE 3033. John Dyer photographed the unit on May 10 2009 at Sheerin Junction (TX) on the Texas North Western Railway in red paint as TXNW 109.
