Stadler Rail rail developed a new platform for shunting engines. The Eem923 Hybrid is based on the electric-only Ee922 used by SBB's passenger division. It can run at up to 100 kph on 15 kV and 25 kV lines, a maximum of four units can operate together. It also has an 360 kW auxiliary diesel engine for non-electrified sidings. For push-pull operation of line freight services at both end can be a Eem 923. Other versions are for DC and on battery operation. |
