| On February 9th, 2013, BNSF Railway train Z-SBDALT9-09A, a 6526' (without locomotives, 6891' with them), 4275 ton intermodal train heading from San Bernardino CA to Alliance TX, threads its way around the curves as it grinds its way up southern California's Cajon Pass. Just beyond this crossing of Cajon Creek is the site of the old Cajon station, where the three BNSF mainlines split, with two of them taking a slightly more circuitous route up the hill. A quartet of modern GE power is on the headend: ES44DC 7209, ES44C4 6833, Dash 9-44CW 5072 and ES44DC 7445. The elevation here is just under 3000', and there is a light dusting of snow from the previous night's storm. |
