Ogeechee RR
Taken at W&T Junction across the Ocmulgee River. Sadly, this line was abandoned a few years later leaving Hawkinsville, a town once served by four railroads, with no rail service at all.

Wow thats pretty sad, why was the line abandoned? Looking around on google maps it appears that the area was full of grain elevators that couldve provided enough traffic for a shortline.

From talking to a local railfan, the biggest shipper on line was a Lithonia Lighting plant out of Cochran. When this facility closed, there was apparently not enough traffic to sustain the line. Most of elevators that I've seen there are located on the Hawkinsville side of the Ocmulgee River. When the Southern Ry embargoed the bridge over the river in 1975 (the bridge had had weight restrictions for years prior which necessitated the use of GE 44-ton switchers and such), the branch no longer could access businesses in Hawkinsville proper.

I don't think the plant actually closed, but probably stopped shipping by rail...
