BNSF Transfer  Contributor's Pick!
BNSF Transfer Job Y-BIR104 snakes through the crossovers from NA #1 to NA #3 as they pass through 2nd Avenue in Birminghm, Al. on their way back to East Thomas Yard after interchanging with NS at North Yard, what a fine sight this was to see this GP40X leading the BNSF Transfer, the GP40X is one of my favorite early model locomotives with those flared radiators which remind me of SD45s, which is another one of my favorite locomotives, BNSF has 10 of these GP40Xs numbered 3030 through 6039 & arent commonly seen & when you do see them theyre in local & yard service, when these GP40X's were 1st released into service they were used in intermodal service on the Santa Fe, now they've been demoted to yard & local service, the GP40X is the prototype to the GP50
