The enclosure at platform level behind the locomotive was known as the Northwest Passage. It provided a fully enclosed, carpeted and air-conditioned, passage between the C&NW station and the CTA's Clinton and Lake Streets elevated station. The passage was built in 1970 and closed in 1990. |
