Its journey is just about done, as engineer Ed Dickens brings Santa Fe 3751 (owned by the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society) to a stop on the old Santa Fe turntable at Amtrak's Redondo Junction engine facility near downtown Los Angeles. The 1927-built Baldwin locomotive took part in the festivities at San Bernardino Railroad Days over the weekend, and will shortly be placed back on its storage track to have its fires dropped and some tender loving care given to it before the next steam up on May 11th (for National Train Day at Los Angeles Union Station). |
