Delanson is so named for the railroad that served it, the Delaware & Hudson. If you take the DEL out of Delaware, the AN out of and, and the SON out of HKdson, you get Delanson. This is CPF 499, and where the once-important Albany Main diverges from the Freight Main (I can't seem to come up with the D&H names, so I have to use the 'modern' Guilford-applied names). This train starts in Kenwood Yard in Albany, runs north to Mechanicville, west to Mohawk, where it pick's up the train left by ST AYMO, then south to Binghamton, where it turn into NS 204 and runs to Buffalo. |
