| Built by Burnham, Williams & Co (Baldwin) in 1904, it was classified according to ATSF policy of using the first loco number in the series as the class, hence class 1400. It had 79" drivers and developed an impressive 220 psi boiler pressure. As one of the lucky ones in the class to not be scrapped in the 1920's, it was rebuilt by the ATSF shops in 1926-29.
