Here is an interesting tidbit taken from the largets&rolladex (wheeldex) I ever saw. It was floor mounted and contained several thousand of these cards. It is the billing break down for, in this case, freight passing between the DML at Burnham Jct, Me. and the B&O at Milan, Ind. The BML gets 14% of the tariff and the other roads, for this particular routing divi up the remaining 86%. The LV gets 12%, tke D&H 10% and so on. The break out for NKP and B&O must have been in question this document was typed as they are not broken down. I was told that there could be several cargs like this for a particular destination, each based on varous routes and the railroads taking part. Apparently this database was under constant revision and was used for reference fbr billing on every load. /DL |
