A vintage GE 45-ton center cab switcher at the Archer Daniels Midland Co. (ADM) facility, 2550 Clairville Rd., Oshkosh, WI (physically located in Town of Algoma, Winnebago Co.), along the WSOR, former MILW, rails west of Oshkosh, WI on 30 Nov. '13. The switcher is stenciled Rock River Generating Station, a large power plant that used to operate at Beloit, WI. The grain facility was constructed ca. 1992 by Olsen’s Mill, Inc. Bankruptcy forced the sale to a group led by P. J. Martini (president of C.R. Meyer and Sons Co.) ca. Apr. ’09. That group seems to have had a convoluted and confusing history during its brief ownership of the facility; various references refer to it as Martini’s Olsen’s Mill Acquisition Co., or Olsen’s Mill Acquisition Co., or Wisconsin Ag Services, or Ag Services of Wisconsin, et al. ADM acquired the facility from Olsen’s Mill Acquisition Co./Ag Services of Wis. ca. 31 Aug. ’11. United Cooperative purchased the facility from ADM ca. Nov. ’15. I originally labeled this facility as Fox River Elevator & Fox River Valley Ethanol (formerly GB Elevator & Utica Energy) which is/was located about a mile due west of this facility. At the time I found information that suggested the two were one in the same. New information suggests they were at one time owned by the same parent organization, but operated independently. |
