The following is from Burlington Route Historical Society's publication, Burlington Bulletin 20 COVERED HOPPERS, edited by Hol Wagner: Although GATC had offered the larger 4,180 cubic-foot2 100-ton version of the Airslide car for several years, the Q did not buy any until 1964. And then, in three separate orders, it acquired a total of only 78 of the big 53-foot cars. Twenty-five Class LO-6 cars, numbered 85650 - 87674, were purchased in May 1964, followed in 1965 by three (!) identical LO-6A's numbered 87675 - 87677. |
