Ex-NP F-9  Contributor's Pick!
This is an operable F-9, obviously obtained from the Northern Pacific. They use this one about once a month to pull the passenger coaches and also as a hostler locomotive to move the rolling stock around the yard and also to take a tank car down the mountain to bring it back up full of water for the steam locomotives. Although it is great to see in action, I was told by one of the volunteers at Mineral that running the F-9 is rather a pain due to the lack of visibility, especially going in the backwards direction down the hill.
