Neal Meadows General This L&N depot was the first Marianna Depot built in 1881. It served the needs of the railroad and the community for many years until the business outgrew the building. In 1908 the building was moved across the street further north on Caledonia Street so a much larger passenger and freight depot could be built. This depot was used as the Railway Express office until it closed in 1975. The building was then used as a thrift store until badly damaged by fire in 1979. In 1982 Floye and Billy Brewton bought the building and moved it to the top of the hill on Caledonia Street where they renovated the building and it was used as a loan center by the then First Bank of Marianna. After the bank changed to Southtrust Bank, this depot building was used by other businesses. The newer large depot was torn down several years later but the freight depot remained until it burned in circa 2015. This original depot remains as of 2017. 8/26/2017 3:27:40 AM
