This is just north of Cuthbert GA on the recently 4 laned U.S. 27. The rail line is part of the former SAL line that ran from Tallahassee to Columbus via Richland. If you look closely as the line goes towards the right you will see that the trackage is overgrown with weeds and trees. Thats because this line is actually abandoned at the the point seen here. There was a woodyard to the right of this photo but has been closed for many years. The rail line is never used BUT has received new crossing signals. What a waste of taxpayer dollars. |
