San Diego & Arizona Eastern Railway GP9 104 at San Diego, California on February 11, 1984, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 104 was built in July 1957 (c/n 23664) as UP GP9 308. In February 1965 it was sent to the UP's Omaha Shops for installation of a turbocharger, becoming informally an Omaha GP20. Number 308 was sold to Morrison Knudsen, October 1, 1979, rebuilt (including removal of turbocharger) and sold to Kyle Railways on March 21, 1980, lettered as SD&AE 104. |
