KCS4-6-2 #809 - "The Flying Crow", Kansas City Southern  Contributor's Pick!
Here's another example of a "Flying Crow" - engines had tuned air horns which emitted a crow's caw and would herald the approach of the passenger varnish known as the "Flying Crow". These locos sported gold trim, lettering, and an emblem on the tender. The loco had tall 75" drivers, and developed a boiler pressure of 200 psi for its 24"x28" cylinders. The engine weight was 258,000 lb and a tractive effort of 36, 557 lbs. No photographer was listed for this photo.
