NP XML 1303
NP XML 1303 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. The following is from the book, NP Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, by Todd Sullivan: NP Series 1300-1305 - Northern Pacific had only 26 60-foot boxcars on its roster, and those arrived fairly late in the NP's history. The first group of six cars was built by Pullman-Standard in November 1966, and received the standard boxcar paint and lettering of that time: mineral brown and white lettering, 5 foot 6 inch NP initials shaded in black to the left of the door, and the 8 foot Northern Pacific Railway herald to the right of the 10 foot door.

Peter Hultgren General What a colorful shot! The color contrast between new Railbox yellow and old NP mineral brown is striking. Then throw in the Cascade Green on the BN car in the foreground as an added touch. Despite the decrepit state of 1970s railroading, it was a colorful era nonetheless. 10/27/2018 11:18:53 PM
