This is not a revenue service boxcar, rather, it is part of the Greeley 'Freight House Musieum' in downtown Greeley, located off the UP Denver-Cheyanne main line. The metal sided building behind the car houses the musieum, which has an ex CB&Q caboose and many other railroad artifacts within. The main feature of the musieum however, is a giant of an HO scale layout depicting the OC&E- thus the auctual OCE boxcar 'out back'! The musieum's founder was fond of the OC&E and well enough off to sponsor the layout/musieum and accompaying stock here. The musieum/layout is open for visitors most weekends and a must see if You haven't stopped in yet...as a bonus the UP main and former station are right next to the musieum if You care to catch some more history and action!..As there is one other color photo of this car here, I have elected to present this one in classic B&W. |
