Originally built in 1909 for the St Louis-San Francisco RR (Firsco), the shops were a splendid facility for the steam locomotives of the day and employed over 4,000 workers in the various shops for steam and passenger cars. After the Frisco merged with Burlington Northern on November 21, 1980, the buildingts were reduced in number and converted to a diesel facility for the BN. The shops closed in 1996 and the last of the buildings were demolished in 2010. Good-bye to an historic location in railroading.
