| In the middle of the afternoon I was watching the action at Dolton, when I saw a train coming out of Barr yard going towards UP's Yard Center. Suddenly the train stopped short of the diamond and stayed there for over an hour before leaving. When it left, I was surprised how short it was. When the sun was at a bad angle for pictures at Dolton, I decided to go and check the action at Barr yard and this is the scene that greeted me on arrival. A grain train was leaving the yard and on side track was a trackmobile shunting some cars. It seems the trackmobile had a brake issue and sideswiped the leaving grain train with the resultat that you see. Four or five cars were on the ground plus the trackmobile. Hulcher was doing a quick job of cleaning the mess. As it was getting late, the sun was going down directly in front of were I was shooting. |
