One of the improvements Long Island made in the mid 80s was to erect high level platforms at all stations. While this provided access for those in wheelchairs, it also detracted from the historic views of the stations. Here we see the new platform that was just installed at Smithtown as a westbound led by 270 makes its stop as an eastbound, pushed by 274, heads for Port Jefferson |
