| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 2-8-2 Class O-1-A 4980 at Galesburg, Illinois on July 1, 1956, photographer unknown, print by Gordon C. Bassett, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 4980 was built by Baldwin in September 1923 (c/n 57073), and sold for scrap in October 1960. A personal observation, this locomotive appeared extremely polished for 1956, I wonder is it was a candidate for preservation. |
