Signs, signs, everywhere theres signs  Contributor's Pick!
Or how things have changed. After the Feds bought out the assets of Penn Central, they morphed into a real estate company. Note who is selling this property. The empty space to the right of the sign is the right of way of the LV Auburn Branch, the line that hosted, among other things, the D&H Sharks for a time on the Sayre turns. Once Conrail took over, that line was abandoned, as was most of the LV west of Sayre. A fair amount of the right of way between Owego and Barton was still there, back in the trees, where it had not been plowed under by the farmers who had the easement revert to them when the line was pulled up. I dont know how much CR actually owned, or if PC was able to sell any of it. Photo is taken from NY 282 in Smithboro, just south of where it intersects with NY 17C.
