Built by Lima in june of 1948 (serial #9306), this locomotive led a dual life serving the C&O in the mountainous West Virgina area until retirement in 1955, reborn as an excursion loco for the American Freedom Train and the Chessie Steam Special. But again it was reborn as an experimental locomotive for the American Coal Enterprise in 1985 with the new designation 614T. Here it spins on the Hinton, WV, turntable as it worked the coal fields in 1985 as part of its testing. No photographer listed. |
