SP 2-6-6-2 #3930 - Southern Pacific  Contributor's Pick!       
Massive 1920 Alco-Schenectady articulated, originally built for Verde Tunnel & Smelter but sold to Southern Pacific in 1943 along with its sister loco #3931 to operate on Beaumont Hill near Los Angeles. Specifics - class MM-3, 57" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 23.5x32" high pressure cylinders (2) and 37x32" low pressure cylinders (2), engine wieght of 447,000 lb, tractive effort of 82,623 lb. SP 3930 was finally retired in 1954. No date, location or photographer was listed on this possibly older reprint so date and location were arbitrarily set..
