Amtrak E9 434 at Roosevelt Road in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in March 1980, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. I believe this train was The Calumet, previously known as the Chicago - Valparaiso Accommodatio` (PRR), The Valpo Local, or The Dummy (PRR and PC), and finally, The Calumet (Amtrak). The first service began on August 30, 1869, and the last service was May 1, 1991. Number 434 was built by EMD in!April 1956 to UP specifications as Milwaukee Road 202A (c/n 21505), renumbered shortly after delivery to 32A, sold to Amtrak in 1971. |
