West Ash Hill - March 2015
Once upon a time, I told Ron Flanary that I was going to do a remake of his iconic March 1995 image depicting the old wooden station sign at Ash Hill California in the Mojave Desert. In the 20 years since Ron snapped his film image, BNSF has added another track, split the control section into both East and West Ash Hills and changed the layout of signals and sidings. The wye at the top of the crest however remains, and in honor of Ron, I shot this image at West Ash Hill which is where the sign in Rons picture was originally situated. (I found the original wood post lying on the ground, but I assume the old sign is on the wall in someones "man cave.") Hopefully, Ron will stick around awhile and I can give him another look at Ash Hill in 2025.
