The LIRR ran some long-for a commuter line-trains. Train length was driven by platform length, and the longest typically was 12 cars. One of those trains rolls through Forest Hills on its way to Babylon. The signal bridge overhead shows an approach and a clear for westbound trains. Watching the PRR signals was almost as much fun as watching the trains, as they had numerous aspects designed to keep trains moving in a high density operation. |
