MEBU, looking like NYSW has a pool with BN, rolls west on track 3, the former DLW westbound main, passing the DLW station on the right, and the Erie freight house on the left. The station is still standing, serving multiple purposes for new owners. The freight house was torn down several years later, and replaced with a small building used by local crews. Track 3 was sometimes used if there was traffic on the Erie main between BD and West BD. Also in this view, we see the station power plant, the low brick building with the concrete stack; and the Marconi tower, an early effort at radio communications. The Lackawanna got into radio early, due to the weather related issues with lineside wires that came with the heavy winters in the region. |
