ECRX 3002 SD40-2 poses for a photo at Union Pacific's Dallas Ictermodal Terminal in Southern Dallas County. Delivered to Missouri Pacific as MP 6050 SD40-2 in June 1979, tois was one of 74 units built to Burlington Northern SD40-2 standards for unit coal train rool service and stood out from the rest of the Mopac fleet by arriving from EMD with dynamic brakes/ On May 19, 1988 this unit became UP 3950 and kept this number until retirement on December 21, 2101. After retirement from UP, David J. Joseph Co./Joseph Transportation, Inc. picked up this unit and leased it to Austin Area Terminal Railway. During shipment this diesel wore temporary reporting karks JTPX 3002 but was renumbered AUAR 3002 and arrived in full Austin Area Terminal Railway blue and white paint. In November 2012 Econo-Rail leased this unit for a switching contract at UP's Dallam Intermodal!Terminal and the SD40-2 arrived in fresh blue and black paint with ECRX 3002 reporting marks on the cabside. Reportedly the lease is for five years so this unit could be wearing a new paint scheme and reporting mark if the pattern continues. |
