Although this site does not recognize this reporting mark, the CC&A was a logging railroad in Mississippi between 1927-59. This Alco-Schenectady built Mikado was delivered originally to the Natchez, Columbia & Mobile RR but this boomer loco didn't stay there. According to the accompanying information from photographer C.W. Whitbeck, it was sold to Pearl River Valley Lumber Co. circa 1933, then resold to the Denkmann Lumber Co. in September of 1938, then resold again to Louisiana Eastern as their #10 before finally reaching the Canton & Carthage RR. After bouncing around the various logging railroads, it was finally scrapped in October, 1962. Here is 1955, it was a sharp looking locomotive. C.W. Whitbeck photo |
