CIL 2-8-2 #576 - Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville (Monon)  Contributor's Pick!
This is a nice example of the Hoosier iconic Mikado built by Alco-Schenectady in 1929. Small discrepancy between the date of 1949 listed on the photo compared to www.SteamLocomotives.com which states this loco was sold to the Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia in 1948. Can anyone clarify this discrepancy? Specifics - 63" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 27x32" cylinders, engine weight of 335,000 lb, tractive effort of 69,243 lb. T.W. Cassidy photo

Eric Reinert General I'd say it's got to be one of two things: The date is wrong, or the TA&G didn't repaint these engines for a while! I wish this photo had more background shown so I could tell if it was on the Monon. 11/14/2016 10:49:11 PM
