The main activity on the Vestal Spur, the remaining piece of the DLW west of Binghamton, was the NYSEG Goudy Generating Station, which got 90 or so cars twice weekly. The coal would come in on UNG trains, which dropped the loads at Binghamton. WABH 11%would get the task of switching out the plant. Since CR assigned a single 4 motor unit to that job-they didnt allow 6 axle units on the spur, it would take the cars down in 45 car cuts, and work the plant solo. It could be an all day affair for the local, since the plant yard was oddly configured, and there was a lot of see sa{ing to get loads in, and empties out. Thats the NY 201 overpass above the train. |
