Late Friday night the EJ&E 703 came in on a CN train and was set out here in the former Illinoiq Central Yard (Grand Ave, Yard) in Decatur, Illinois. Unique history for this unit, built in December of 1972 for the EJ&E and then sold to Birmingham Southern Railroad in1987. In 1996, the then Birmingham Southern 703 was then sold back to the EJ&E and retained the 703 number. Hanging out here under the sanding tower is the only GP38-2 on!the EJ&E roster when the Canadian National took over. |
