| Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here (L to R) is PRR engine #9787 and two other units whose numbers are not visible. #9787 is an EF-15A built by EMD in 1951 and rated at 1,500 HP. They are pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge, as an EMD switcher moves some cars two tracks over. Note that the eastbound coal train pulled by PRR engine #9530 is still stopped on the far right track! |
