BWCX. Here is an original photo that was taken at the Berwind-White Railroad Car Shops in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 12 April 1960. Shown here is the Vulcan 0-4-0 steam locomotive named "Nancy." The builder's plate indicates "Vulcan Locomotive Works ~ 1918." This locomotive was retired during the Winter of 1963-1964, so it served faithfully for around 46 years! In this photo, "Nancy" is shifting a highway-trailer-carrying flatcar owned by the Transport Leasing Company. Once upon a time, this was the middle leg of a fully-functioning "wye" that was connected on two ends to the Pennsylvania Railroad; the third leg (visible here behind "Nancy") led to the Berwind-White Car Shops. |
