This is the passenger shelter at Orchard Gardens. This was built by the Dan Patch Line, the predecessor of the Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern. The shelter's role was to provide a waiting space for passengers along the Dan Patch's interurban route to Northfield and points south. When the Dan Patch passed to the more freight oriented MN&S, the shelter survived as a monument to the brief success of the Dan Patch as a passenger line. |
