Dan Patch Line Survivor  Contributor's Pick!
This is the passenger shelter at Orchard Gardens. This was built by the Dan Patch Line, the predecessor of the Minneapolis, Northfield, and Southern. The shelter's role was to provide a waiting space for passengers along the Dan Patch's interurban route to Northfield and points south. When the Dan Patch passed to the more freight oriented MN&S, the shelter survived as a monument to the brief success of the Dan Patch as a passenger line.
