PRR 492909, MoW Car, 1965
Station. Here is an original photo that I took near the Pennsylvania Railroad's Passenger Station in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on the afternoon of 11 December 1965. Shown here is PRR Maintenance of Way Car #492909. It looks like an ex-Pullman car that has just been refurbished in the Altoona Passenger Shops and awaits being returned to MoW service.

Ted Brumberg General Built as Pullman 12 section-1 drawing room (12S-1DR) sleeper "EYERSGROVE", in July 1926 in Lot #4969 to Plan #3410A, 1 of 50 such cars built in that Lot (June to September), all for assignment to the PRR. All but one of the fifty cars would be sold to the Pennsy at the 12/31/1948 Pullman divestiture (exception was the SHRADERS, which was wrecked on the PRR at Bennington Curve, PA, on February 18th, 1947). The 49 remaining cars would be leased back to Pullman (i.e., "LTP") for operation, with a number remaining in said revenue service as late as 1962. The EYERSGROVE was pulled from revenue service (i.e., "withheld from lease", or "WFL") in April 1960. 12/30/2022 7:40:07 PM
