PC Power. Here is an original photo that I took at the Penn Central Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during the Summer of 1968. Shown here are PC engines #6171, #2330, and another unit whose number is not recorded. #6171 is an SD45 built by GM-EMD in December of 1967 and rated at 3,600 horsepower. #2330 is a GP35 built by GM-EMD in January of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling an eastbound mixed-cargo freight train down the Allegheny Mountains and around the Curve to Altoona and points East. Wave to the engineman! |
