PRR E&M Yard, #2 of 3, 1966
E&M. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata E&M Shop Yard in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during April of 1966. Shown here is a view to the right of the trusty turntable. Visible are dozens of locomotives in various states of repair: from work almost finished to being cannibalized. Many makes and models are represented, but mostly those built by the American Locomotive Company. In the foreground is PRR engine #8916, an AS-16MS built by ALCo in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. Behind it is PRR engine #9616, an AF-16 built by ALCo in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. And behind that is PRR engine #8912, another AS-16MS built by ALCo in 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower.
