Some empty GACX hoppers waiting for their turn to the WATCO terminal facility to be loaded in Oshkosh. The cars sit on a siding along some old building foundations that may have been part of any of numerous business activities historically located here. Fisk, once known as Fisk's Corners, had a station, post office, general store, blacksmith, implement store and a grain elevator. Livestock and farm produce were shipped from here on the Milwaukee Road. The old 1910 built bridge across Eight Mile Creek is visible just beyond the turnout. This bridge was replaced in July/August of 1016. Eight Mile Creek has also been known as Fisk's Creek, however, Eight Mile Creek seems to be the official name as it is the one used in modern maps. |
